Pressed and heated (metamorphized) limestone, pressed for extra eons to a harder, finer texture. It can be polished to bring out its striations; it its purest form it is without veins, as in the Pentelic marble of the Parthenon or Carrara marble from Italy. Photo from Florence, Italy, 2018.
