The Carteret Performing Arts Center is one of the largest in the area. It holds several marquee events throughout the year. The revenues from concessions inside, including the sale of alcohol, go to support ongoing downtown revitalization efforts.

Music notes and piano key crosswalks build a sense of excitement as people approach the performing arts center.

Large-scale development near the performing arts center has brought residents which are a crucial part of any revitalization effort. The ground floor spaces of these building are slowly getting filled by businesses.

More traditional Main Street scaled buildings are nearby in older buildings. These are fully occupied in comparison with new construction that is partially occupied at best.

The ever evolving streetscape is on display here with construction happening across the street. On the side this photo was taken in the foreground light posts, planters, and pavers give a more refined feel.
Residential neighborhood outside of the downtown has multi-story mixed-use buildings, though is primarily residential. Businesses here are of a convenience retail or service nature. The area is served by nearby bus stations.
Waterfront Park with Fresh Kills capped landfill in the distance.
