Main Street Now and Places of Worship

Mary Means when she started Main Street America had three concerns which guided her – caring for historic downtowns, but also courthouses and churches which were threatened with being lost forever. This morning while at mass at the Solanus Casey Center in Detroit, I was reflecting on our Main Street network and particularly how the conference is coming to Detroit in May 2027. Then I thought how remarkable it would be if we could welcome visitors from throughout the country to any number of the amazing historic religious places and communities throughout our region. Better yet, were we to incorporate a community service element before the opening of the conference, what better way to give back to our host town and honor the vision of our founder. Which leads me to two questions: is this something people who have attended the conference would value, and where would you suggest people go in Detroit and throughout the region?
