Teatro dell’Opera – Rome, Italy

Teatro dell’Opera di Roma (Rome Opera House) is a theater is located in Rome, Italy, and is known for its iconic 19th-century architecture and lavish productions. The interior features the traditional horseshoe-shaped auditorium with vertically stacked private boxes, ornate gold decorations, and red seating, which creates an intimate atmosphere. Also known as the Teatro Costanzi after its builder Domenico Costanzi, the opera house has preserved the celebrated style of Italian opera for almost 150 years.


The dome of the theater is adorned with frescoes painted by the Peruvian artist Annibale Brugnoli (1843–1915). In the original design by architect Achille Sfondrini, the auditorium was topped by this splendid dome. Tosca by Giacomo Puccini premiered here on 14 January 1900.
