Also known as an I-beam or H-beam, is a structural steel member with an “I” or “H” shaped cross-section used in architecture and construction to support heavy loads and provide stability. Its distinctive shape consists of two parallel flanges (horizontal parts) and a single vertical web connecting them, which is engineered for strength and resistance to bending. (Forbes, 1988)
