An empire dating back to the founding of Rome in 753 BC. Continues through the time of Diocletian when the empire was divided into east and west. Foundation of the Ostrogothic Kingdom of Italy occurred in 493. The Holy Roman Empire ended in 1806. (Kremer, 2023)
