common brick
Ordinary bricks intended for structural, not ornamental, purposes; used as backing for terra cotta, stone, and face brick, and for interior or exterior walls where appearance is not of great concern. As a general rule, common bricks receive no special attention: they are not repressed, molded, rubbed, or carved.
