Westside Provisions District – Atlanta, Georgia

The Westside Provisions District provided a fun walkable area with several businesses to enjoy.

Jeni’s Ice Creams was one of our favorite ice cream shops by far. The unique flavors like Bangkok Peanut made it well worth the wait.

Efforts at place branding were reflected in attractive circular brass plaques, and also in the sandwich board. Both carried the pig icon that was utilized as a place identification tool.

One business that we loved had a kitchen and trained people in how to can and pickle their own food. Their revenue came not as much from food products they produced, but from the training experience that they provide people.

Also near Jeni’s we ran across this distinct building that was open to the outdoors. A sloped canopy roof gave extensive outside area next to the core of the building that had protection thanks to its two walls.

We found it encouraging that a placemaking effort provided places for people to play. Ignore the fact that the metal ping pong table was on uneven pavers that potentially provided a trip hazard during a face-paced game.
