An ornament shaped like two cones whose bases coincide, and generally forming one of a series connected by their apices. This forms approximates to what is known as spindle-shaped or fusiform; it is generally used in series to give a dentil-like effect of contrasting lights and shadows. (Sturgis, 1900)
