A narrow piece of metal, or molded wood, or batten, to cover a joint between two sheathing boards, so that several will thereby form panels; or one between a style and a panel, forming a secondary or accessory panel, as in elaborate patterns of paneling. 2. A strip running in each direction of a two-way slab, within which moments per foot are assumed to be constant. (Sturgis, 1900)
