A pipe composed of wrought iron; typically of a diameter of 2 inches or less, and installed with threaded fittings; types include galvanized (for drains, vents, and water and gas supply), lead lined (for vents), enameled (for water supply), plain (for gas supply), asphalt lined (for gas and water mains), and cement lined (For gas and water supply lines); common in the 19th century.
