Grover Cleveland Service Area – Woodbridge Township, New Jersey

The Grover Cleveland Service Area is a modern building off of I-95 in Woodbridge Township, New Jersey. Inside it is light and airy thanks to the curtain glass wall. Gover Cleveland was born on March 18, 1837 in Caldwell, New Jersey. In 1841 the family moved to Fayetteville, New Jersey, where Grover spent much of his childhood. Cleveland was leader of the pro-business Bourbon Democrats who opposed high tariffs, Free Silver, inflation, imperialism, and subsidies to business, farmers, or veterans. He relentlessly fought political corruption, patronage, and bossism. During his second non-consecutive term as President, the Panic of 1893 produced a severe national depression.

An interesting marker notes New Jersey Turnpike Memorial Bridges, showing bridges, service areas, and rivers.

Carlo’s Bake Shop has a highly interactive cake dispenser inside of the Service Area. When an item is selected a loud audio narration turns on making a show of the cake being selected and delivered.

Finally, the front door is nicely framed with metal cladding against the curtain wall. It creates a clear entry point for the building.
