Square Cottage

This 1- or 1 1/2-story, gable—roofed structure is two rooms wide and two rooms deep. It is very similar in appearance to the double-pile cottage; however, the absence of a central hallway produces a square or nearly square floor plan. Stoves and associated chimney columns are variously placed. This form was most popular between 1890 and 1910. (Jakle, 1989)
