Missouri marble
Crystalline limestone from the lower carboniferous strata, generally gray with a slight bluish tint and consisting of irregular grains of calcite and shells bound in a mass of calcite. Suture joints occur parallel to the bedding and about two inches to twenty inches apart. Ozark Gray is quarried at Carthage, Napolean Gray at Phoenix. At Marlo a different range of monotone and decorative marbles are produced under the trade names of Adorado, Eldorado, Graydorado, Hondorado, Indorado, and Sheldorado. (Saylor, 1952)
