Power & Light District – Kansas City, Missouri
We only had a short time to take in the Power & Light District while visiting Kansas City for the Main Street Now conference.
We were struck by these Art Nouveau lights as we grabbed a quick lunch inside a grocery store.
This Art Deco skyscraper with setbacks had a striking silhouette and towered above neighboring buildings.
Only in later decades would similar tall buildings be constructed, though they lacked the same detail, character, and massing.
At night we noted a unique take on lights over the street. An angled pattern is created of lights over the street. Tree lights with their blue wrapping lights frame this and make the lights over the street stand out.
