the Enchanted City, about 120 miles east of Madrid, is a formation of cretaceous deposits covering 500 acres. Teh fantastic shapes, boldly cantilevered, are an astonishing sight and need no fanciful comparisons with architecture to be appreciated. (Rudofsky, 1965)
