A faucet or turn valve consisting of a tapering plug having a transverse hole through it for the passage of fluids. This plug fits into a hole, or seat, having a corresponding taper, so that in one position the passage-way is blocked and in another position it is opened. Same as cock. (Kremer, 2024)
