The legal right of a person or group to challenge in court the condcut of another, especially a governmental agency or official; generally plaintiffs must show 1) injury to a legally protected interest, 2) a causal connection between the injury and the governmental action, and 3) a likelihood that the injury would be redressed by a favorable decision; does not require an economic interest in a threatened historic building, or ownership of adjacent property, for example it is sufficient for an organization to demonstrate that its members appreciate, enjoy, visit, and use its architectural and aesthetic values. (Bucher, 1996)
