Ornamental tiles placed at the ends of the main ridge of the roof of a traditional Japanese structure, at the lower ends of the angle formed by descending roof slopes (kudarimune) and/or at the corner ends (sumimune). The most common form of decoration is an agre mask, from which the tile gets its name. (Harris, 1977)
