An architectural style loosely based on Dutch colonial buildings; started ca. 1890 and continues to the present; nearly always with a gambrel roof and multi-paned double-hung windows; often with dormer windows and/or front-facing gambrel end, neither of which were found in the original. (Bucher, 1996)
