drove work

The final operation after tooth chiseling. After a soft stone is roughly dressed, the ridges left by tooth chiseling are removed by either a drove (a wide steel chisel measuring two to three inches in width) or a tool (a chisel measuring three and one-half to four and one-half inches in width). Usually the grooves made by the tooth chisel show to some extent after the surface has been drove or tool worked. (Phillips, 1994)
