Wyandotte Memorial Recreation Center – Wyandotte, Michigan
We were called in to evaluate an indoor public pool that had been closed for some time. Originally it was dedicated in memory of those who served in the U.S. armed forces. Pool equipment was later dedicated in memory of Mark Ebendick in 1995.

The outdoor appearance is factory like with a strong horizontal emphasis. Materials vary from the side walls and the upper level that is clad in metal panels. This allows for the glass curtain wall to bring ample daylight in.

Once inside the pool had five lanes and a deeper end allowing for diving. Windows below water level would give a view of swimmers.

Heavy duty water filtration equipment serviced the pool when it was in operation. Undoubtedly the cost of maintaining and/or replacing this equipment is what pushed the facility to no longer be in service.

Modern lines continued outside including a circular section covered with green metal enameled panels. Stacked brick on the side wall is another distinctive modern design feature.
