Funnel-like feature of domestic architecture in the Middle East: air is carried or blown down to the interiors, sometimes into undergroundchambers and over cold-water tanks, and then up again to the inhabited rooms. It demonstrates sophisticated technical mastery of climate-control in Islamic culture, probably as early as 14th c. (Curl & Wilson, 2016)
