An old architectural form, was enlivened during the Aesthetic movement. Stone, brick and even wood row houses in the queen Anne, Richardson Romanesque and related artistic modes were erected. Their architectural flourishes (turrets, bay windows, gables and purely decorative niches and panels) made them distinctive in the streetscape.
