Additional bending and shear stresses in a truss member resulting from an eccentric connection or a joint fixed against relative rotation. While trusses are assumed to have idealized pin connections, truss connections in reality may be bolted, welded, or riveted, imparting a degree of rigidity to the joints. (Ching, 1995)
