Also known as a ghost sign, fading ad, or brick ad, this type of mural is typically a faded advertisement painted on a building’s exterior wall from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Ghost murals were used for advertising before printers made it possible to create signs at that scale or size. (Davis, 2025)
