A joint formed by two interlocking elements: a wedge-shaped tenon and a corresponding mortise; used extensively for joining corners in cabinet making; also used for securing structural members in timber frame construction. When both edges of the tenon are cut at an angle, the joint is a full-dovetail. (Phillips, 1994)
