Springbone Kitchen, a health-focused fast-casual eatery located at 321 Millburn Ave, Millburn, New Jersey. Springbone Kitchen specializes in 100% gluten-free and nutrient-dense comfort food. Key highlights of their kitchen philosophy include:
- Healthy Fats Only: They cook exclusively with olive oil and coconut oil, guaranteeing a menu entirely free of seed oils (no canola or vegetable oils).
- No Refined Sugar: Dishes are prepared without any added artificial sweeteners.
- Sourcing: They use 100% grass-fed beef, free-range chicken, and primarily organic produce.
The menu centers around house-made bone broths, customizable bowls, and healthy sides:
- Bone Broths & Soups: Daily scratch-made broths (Chicken, Grass-Fed Beef, and Vegan Shiitake) with specialized flavor varieties like Immunity Broth (ginger, garlic, vitamin C) and Liquid Gold (chicken broth, coconut milk, turmeric).
- Signature Bowls: Their most highly-rated options include Grandma’s Chicken & Rice (served with brussels sprouts, cabbage slaw, and cashew white sauce) and the Mexican Bowl (chicken thigh, bone broth rice, black beans, and guacamole).
- Grain-Free Treats: A rotating selection of gluten-free and dairy-free desserts, such as tahini chocolate chip cookies and dark chocolate brownies.

The storefront windows proper, are a bit understated and the brand identity is not carried forward quite as strongly. Pencil graphics are relegated to the far corners on the bottom right and almost unrecognizable. An effort is made to provide outdoor seating, but this is also minimal. Natural materials and colors are carried forward. Surprisingly, a large number of posters are in the windows, detracting from any in store messaging and blocking sight lines into the business. The interior looks dark to the eye due to inadequate lighting throughout.

The menu boards are simple and well lit. Information is organized and it is easy to find what you are looking for.

100% Grass Fed and No Seed Oil are two of the brand pillars. Explaining the reasoning for these practices, further strengthens the connection with the brand and the brand story.

A curious choice inside are the hand-painted cartoon-like drawings of ingredients and processes involved in the making of broth. This lacks the refinement of an experienced artist. They add some visual interest to otherwise blank walls, but do not strengthen the brand story.

A small minimalist pantry features products made or consumed in the store. The sauces and the reusable thermos mugs are particularly on brand.

A sidewalk sign board relies on strong graphic design to strengthen the understanding of products.
