A policy that defines the structures of board member behavior in areas of financial operations; this policy is generally set forth in the nonprofit’s bylaws and is a foundational and essential document that should be reviewed annually by board members; most often, board members are required to sign a conflict of interest policy statement, which is kept on file by the nonprofit.
