A tomb consisting of a vertical shaft leading to one or more underground chambers; especially found in Colombia, Ecuador, western Mexico, Panama, and Peru; dating from the early Christian era, the most spectacular such tomb has been found in Jalisco, Mexico, 52 feet deep, with three chambers radiating from a central core.
