Same as horizontal plank-frame or vertical plank-frame. Also known as plank-wall. See also framing, plank house. 2. A building framing system that uses lumber of 2 inch nominal dimension; for barns the lumber is double or tripled to achieve the required strength. 3. A 2x used as a door or window frame; typically rabbeted on the inside edge. (Bucher, 1996)
