A two-piece hinge with one side having a vertical fixed pin or pintle, and the other side a pintle sleeve with a hole that fits over the pin; types include rising hinge, gate hinge, hook-and-band hinge, hook-and-eye hinge, lift-off hinge, loose-joint hinge, pew hinge. Also known as a pintle hinge. 2. A double acting spring hinge supported on pivots, may be jamb mounted or the same as floor spring hinge. (Bucher, 1996)
