A steel containing one and one-half per cent of carbon and from five to eight per cent of tungsten, which when hardened by air cooling holds its temper until it becomes red-hot. A steel produced by the Mushet process of recarburization, which consists of adding spiegel or other form of manganese. (Bridge, 2019)
