French Eclectic style

An architectural style for U.S. houses loosely based on the various styles of farmhouses and manor houses of Brittany and Normandy in France; may be symmetrical with Renaissance detailing, asymmetrical with informal, medieval details, or a towered Norman cottage; typical elements include a steeply pitched hipped roof that curves toward the horizontal at the eaves, dormers, masonry or stucco walls, and decorative half-timbering. (Bucher, 1996)
