At Miletus, (c. 170 B.C.). A new type of public building which emerged during the fourth and third centuries B.C. was the concert or assembly chamber with a semi-circular auditorium like that of Greek theatres set within a great rectangular hall. Here an additional feature of interest is the use of engaged semi-columns as a purely decorative device on the exterior. (Boardman, 1986)
