conditivum
An underground vault or burying place in which a corpse was deposited in a coffin without being reduced to ashes, a practice prevalent among the Romans at the two extreme periods of their history, before the custom of burning had been initiated and after it had been discontinued. Also see conditorium. (Kremer, 2017)
