Civilian Conservation Corps
The Civilian Conservation Corps were a Depression-era public works program founded in 1933. Among activities they were involved in were reclaiming eroded hillsides, replanting forests, building trails, and building cave walkways. The CCC provided jobs for men in an era when people had a tough time putting food on the table. (Kremer, 2026)
