Of The Forum Of Augustus (end of first century B.C.). The upper storey of the colonnade enclosing the new forum was articulated with a series of carved female figures copied directly from the Caryatid porch of the Erechtheum in Athens (above, p. 125) -a vivid illustration of the classical Greek element in Augustan architectural decoration.
