California cottage
A cottage with a central plan, a tall center, asymmetrical massing, patterned textures on exterior surfaces, projecting gables and bay, interconnected interior and exterior spaces, and either a steep roof on the centripetal types or a low, close-to-the ground roof in the centrifugal types. Common in the southwest plains, on the prairies, and in border states of the south. (Gottfried & Jennings, 1985)
