Nika
The Greek word nike means ‘victor’, or ‘conqueror’. It is sometimes combined with the Chi Rho or the letters IC or IC XC to represent the pharase ‘Jesus, Victor’ or ‘Christ, Conqueror’, a reference to Jesus’ victory over death and sin. Sometimes only the ‘N’ is used, superimposed over a Sacred Monogram or a cross. A single N used in this way may also have a more tender meaning, as it can stand for Noster, ‘Our’, for example ‘Our Jesus’. (Taylor, 2003)
