G. Board of Education Building
The first high school in Wyandotte was built on this site in 1869. One of the first high schools in the State of Michigan, it was built at a time when there was serious debate statewide whether public tax money should be used to support education beyond the elementary level. Several leaders visited Wyandotte’s school and three years after it was opened the State Supreme Court decided in favor of tax supported high schools.
