Parklet – Metuchen, New Jersey

A temporary park was built as a demonstration project with support from AARP New Jersey in October 2017. It remained on Main Street for a week. What this intervention allowed was to demonstrate how a widened area improved circulation by giving space for pedestrians to walk by on a crowded sidewalk.

Volunteers rapidly led the build over a 5 hour period, iterating aspects of the design on the spot in response to site constraints and feedback from passersby.
