A spurce tree with pale yellowish white, soft, relatively weak, lightweight, stiff, straight-grained wood; found from nothern New England and central states to labrador, and west to Alaska; used for lumber, interior millwork, and pulpwood; Picea glauca. Also known as blue spruce, spruce pine, eastern spruce, bog spruce, single spruce, swamp spruce. 2. Same as Engelmann spruce. 3. A softwood tree; Picea alba. (Bucher, 1996)
