Saint Foy
Saint Foy (or Saint Faith in English) was a virgin saint who was martyred at Agen during the persecution of Diocletian. When brought before her judges and asked of what religion she was, she replied, ‘From a child I have served the Lord Jesus with all my heart, I confess His Name and commit myself to Him with entire devotion.’ The magistrate urged Faith to withdraw her confession and, when she refused, ordered that she be burnt to death. It is said that her unshakeable resolve so impressed a fellow Christian, who had been watching the proceedings from a hiding place, that he came forward, confessed himself also a Christian, and shared her fate. Faith is usually represented with a palm branch and a grate. Her feast day is October 6. (Dictionary of Saints)
