In stair building, a full-sized pattern of the side of a wreath. It is cut out of a thin piece of veneer, or the like, following the lines of the developed (i.e. unrolled or opened out) curved elevation, and is then bent around the wreath to give the actual lines of the steps, moldings, and other parts. (Jones, 1992)
