In The Golden House Of Nero, recorded in an eighteenth-century engraving -Above a dado veneered with coloured marbles rose a painted scheme of flimsy fantasy architecture in the manner of the Fourth Style; figures and vases were set within the pavilions as if in a real environment. The colour scheme (despite the effect of the engraving) was mainly yellow on a dark-red background. (Boardman, 1986)
