Simple pointing rig made out of angle iron, flat steel, and a few thumbscrews allows one mason to quickly set up his own straightedge to guide the curved pointing tool based on Joseph Moxon’s drawings. Traditionally, a straightedge of up to 12′ was used to create the illusion of uniformity and straightness in Georgian brickwork. (Preservation Science, 2019)
