hell strip

In public spaces, the area between the sidewalk and street where there is no pavement. In colder climates it may to be covered with snow, ice, and road salt making it inhospitable for plantings. Vehicles often drive over the hell strip, making it further difficult to plant. Some guerilla gardeners have found a way to plant hearty and resilient plants here.
