Named after one of Albion’s earliest settlers and most successful citizens, MarvinHannah. Hannah street has a north south orientation and is bounded by Michigan Avenue in the north and Haven Road in the South. The road originates in thenorth end of the Albion College campus, and passes many college buildings, including sites of the colleges earliest buildings facing Hannah Street on theQuadrangle. After crossing Erie Street, Hannah passes by the AlbionCollege Athletic Field on the east and an area formerly known as “Dutchtown”on the west, a name designating the area where early German immigrants settled.Hannah then crosses the Mill Race and East Branchof the Kalamazoo River, passes Victory Park, then terminated in the south at Haven Road. For many years college officialshave sought to close the portion of Hannah between Cass and Porter Streets, butcity officials have been reluctant to do this, because of the importantconnection Hannah provides between the north and south ends of the town.
