Biography
Ethel Smith was born January 25, 1900, the daughter of George and Belle Dean. She graduated from Albion College in 1924, marrying Reginald Smith that same year. Ethel attended the University of Illinois for two years to study dietetics and food service.
She was a member of the Methodist Ladies’ Aid Society, a church trustee and steward, and a member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service. She was a vice president of the Community Concerts Association and with Reginald, helped start the Albion Youth Hostel. She served as president of E.L.T. Club and vice president of the Community Chest Board. She was also a member of Delta Gamma, AAUW, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Ethel died on March 25, 1979.
